This composition caught my eye at a party due to the direct light and Sarah’s pensive and distracted gaze. I was fascinated by the complexity of the colour and lighting. The bowl and its reflecting green glow dominates, adding a mysterious and unsettling element to the portrait.

​This portrait is of someone, Sarah, at a party but feeling disconnected and lost for just a moment. Painting this portrait satisfied my curiosity for her in this moment, capturing her temporary mystery.
